Lenovo smartphones are the smartphones created by famous Lenovo company. The Company has many other brands in their possession that includes Motorola, Zuk mobile and Medion.
These three sell under their own brand and use their own name. Lenovo is working on rebranding its smartphones under Motorola brand name.
This Lenovo smartphones are marketed in China as “LePhone” and as “IdeaPhone” in overseas markets. In order to be the best in Chinese market and wipe out the competitors from china.
Lenovo spent millions to build a plant that can manufacture millions of smartphones per year. Lenovo started manufacturing smartphones in a large number. Their growth in china also increased in year 2012.
Lenovo smartphones became popular among Chinese and there was growth in the smartphone sales. Lenovo share was also increased 14.2% during 2012. Lenovo was extremely popular in Chinese market due to its improvement in channel partnership. Lenovo had a large number of sales channels that possessed an advantage over other competitors.
Market Penetration Strategy
This smartphones were marketed heavily in china and also in the emerging markets. Lenovo’s idea was to have volume of smartphones. They believed that you can’t make money unless you have volume of products to sell.
The brand is marketed in China as LePhone and was offered at relatively low price than other vendor. This smartphones were customized for Chinese market and that’s the reason it got strong support from Chinese mobile carrier and content providers as Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent.
After the success in the Chinese market, They started their marketing in other countries. This smartphones are cheaper but the quality is quite good.
They continue to gain success over the years and in 2014, Google announced that it would sell Motorola Mobility to the company for a great amount of US$2.91 Billion in cash and stock-deal.
After the acquisition of Motorola Mobile, they still continue to use the Motorola brand name and made Motorola better to compete with the other vendors.
The brand was was the fourth largest smartphone manufacturer company at that time. They launched its first smartphone Lenovo K800 in 2012 that has a 4.5 inches of HD display and 8 megapixels of rear camera.
It had the Gingerbread version of Android. The second smartphone was K900 that was an absolute beast. It had a 5.5 inches UHD display and amazing performance.
The K900 version had an absolutely amazing 13-megapixels of camera. This was the phone that is responsible for the Company’s existence in market. A820 was released in 2013 and another popular smartphone by this manufacturer with a quad core processor and 1 GB of RAM.
Vibe X was released in 2013 and featured 5 inches of 1080p display and a very good camera.
The Vibe X2 is a smartphone that features 5 inches of UHD display and a quad core processor. It featured Android 4.4 KitKat and Vibe 2.0 interface.
Next smart by Vibe was Vibe Z2 that was called Selfie phone. IT had quad core processor and UHD display. It featured 8 MP of front camera for best selfies.
Pro version of Vibe Z2 had bigger screen, better camera and bigger battery. Lenovo released Vibe B in 2016 that featured amazing camera and is running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
